MUMBAI: Ticket checking drive at Kalyan Railway station resulted in a total of 4438 cases of ticketless travel on October 16 - a record on suburban network across
Indian Railway.
CR spokesperson said, “CR earned a revenue of Rs. 16.85 lakh from offenders in a single day from this drive.”
The previous highest was at
Western Railway’s (WR) Borivli station in which 4166 passengers were found without ticket and penalty to the tune of Rs 11.65 lakh was recovered from these offenders on October 11.
CR’s Mumbai Division with 167 Ticket checking staff and and 35 RPF staff were in the team which conducted this drive at Kalyan Railway Station.
The earlier highest on CR was was at Thane station where 3092 people were caught and a fine of more than Rs 8.6 lakh recovered on October 9.
The fortress check drive on suburban network in Mumbai commenced on WR at Dadar on September 30 in which 1647 cases were detected a a recovery of Rs. 4.22 lakh was made from these offenders.
Thereafter, similar drives were undertaken at major stations like Andheri, Bandra, Churchgate and even in AC locals.
